Why many people like to maximize the volume of their music?

This was the question that pondered in my mind. Why my neighbors don't like to lower the volume of their music? It's very noisy in the neighborhood. If you try to tell them, you ended up the bad one. Many times I overreacted to the situation especially when I wanted to have some rest, but my spouse stopped me told me, "just enjoy the noise". Maybe they wanted us to share with their music or maybe they wanted to be known for having the loudest sound system in the place. I didn't know which of the two supposition was correct. But my brother replied, neither of them. He said, they're doing such thing because they couldn't find stillness in their hearts.
