DIESEL ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS

1. Fuel Tank - a storage fuel 2. Fuel Line & Hoses – made of steel tubes & flexible rubber Hoses. 3. Sedimentor – It traps water inside the filler so that no water will be pumped inside injection pump. 4. Primer Pump – A low pressure pump that pumps low pressure fuel inside fuel gallery of injection pump. - It keeps the injection pump full of fuel. ( 3 Types of Primer Pump) P1. Plunger Type – use by inline type injection pump. P2. Vent Type – use by a distributor type injection Pump P3. Diaphragm Type – driven by the engine camshaft. 5. Fuel Filter – filter out dirt w/in the fuel system Fuel filter must be replace every 25,000 km 6. Injection Pump – A high pressure pump that supply high pressure fuel into the injector. - It meters the right amount of fuel in accordance to speed & load. (2 Types of Injection Pump) 1. Inline Type 2. Distributor Type 7. Governor – A Fuel management system - It controls the operation pump fuel delivery. (4 Types of Governor) 1. Mechanical 2. Hydraulic 3. Pneumatic 4. Electronic 8. Injector – Atomizes the fuel ( 2 Types of Injector) 1. Hole Type – direct injection 2. Pintle Type – indirect injection 9. Glow Plugs - In the tip of the glow plug is a coil of a resistive wire or a filament which heats up when electricity is connected.
