DIESEL ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS
1. Fuel Tank - a storage fuel
2. Fuel Line & Hoses – made of steel tubes & flexible
rubber Hoses.
3. Sedimentor – It traps water inside the filler so that no
water will be pumped inside injection pump.
4. Primer Pump – A low pressure pump that pumps low
pressure fuel inside fuel gallery of injection pump.
- It keeps the injection pump full of fuel.
( 3 Types of Primer Pump)
P1. Plunger Type – use by inline type injection pump.
P2. Vent Type – use by a distributor type injection
Pump
P3. Diaphragm Type – driven by the engine camshaft.
5. Fuel Filter – filter out dirt w/in the fuel system
Fuel filter must be replace every 25,000 km
6. Injection Pump – A high pressure pump that supply
high pressure fuel into the injector.
- It meters the right amount of fuel in
accordance to speed & load.
(2 Types of Injection Pump)
1. Inline Type
2. Distributor Type
7. Governor – A Fuel management system
- It controls the operation pump fuel delivery.
(4 Types of Governor)
1. Mechanical
2. Hydraulic
3. Pneumatic
4. Electronic
8. Injector – Atomizes the fuel
( 2 Types of Injector)
1. Hole Type – direct injection
2. Pintle Type – indirect injection
9. Glow Plugs - In the tip of the glow plug is a coil of a
resistive wire or a filament which heats up when
electricity is connected.
