Engine Support System

Several subsystems support engine operation. They are the cooling system, the fuel system, the lubrication system, the electrical system, including the charging, starting, ignition, and computer systems, and exhaust system. To provide improvements in fuel economy and exhaust emissions, new cars also have sophisticated computerized systems that operate fuel and emission control systems.
